- In web hosting, companies offer bandwidth in their packages, and the prices may vary. In this case, bandwidth signifies the capacity of data to be transferred between the website user and the server. Typically, bandwidth is shown in megabytes per second (MB/s) or gigabytes per second (GB/s).
To explain further, website bandwidth is the measure of maximum data that can be transferred in a specific amount of time (mostly in seconds). Hence, bandwidth is usually shown as megabytes or gigabytes per second. In web hosting, the higher the per-second measure, the more data is sent and received simultaneously. In layman’s terms, bandwidth can be explained as “data carrying capacity.”
When choosing a web hosting package, it is crucial to calculate the amount you would need. Depending on how your website is designed and what its purpose is, you could do with either more or less. However, keep in mind that, with the growth of your website, you would need more bandwidth.
