The Member States’ actions will be working on the following topics:

  • Merging private, national, and EU investment to create competitive, green, and secure cloud infrastructures and services. This requires close collaboration with industry and experts to shape the European Alliance on Industrial Data and Cloud, the announcement says;
  • Designating a shared European approach on federating cloud capacities;
  • Creating “more secure, interoperable and energy-efficient data centres and cloud services,” especially for SMBs, start-ups and the public sector.

A European Alliance on Industrial Data and Cloud is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2020. It is noteworthy that all 27 Member States have joined forces to commit to the next generation cloud for Europe and its deployment in the private and public sectors across the EU.
